"Daddy played the banjo, ‘neath the yellow tree, It rang across the backyard, an old time melody, I loved to hear the music, I was only five, I listened as his fingers made the banjo come alive."

BUG POP is a long-time lover of the Bluegrass and Old-Time sounds thanks to Poppa B and his collection of folk instruments and records back in the 80s! Now we are blessed with a thriving scene in BUG POPs own hometown, Liverpool, England. With "The Loose Moose String Band" at The Caleedonia Pub fortnightly Sundays, and "Sidney Bailey's No-Good Punchin' Clowns" AND "The Flamin' Mamies" every Tuesday at Peter Kavannaghs (Check out all of those bands, they NEVER dissapoint!), there is now a thriving buzzing throng of appreciators of that ol' country music, and plenty of chances to dance! "And if ya don't wanna just up an' dance when ya hear the Banjo player pickin', then there's sumthin wrong with either y'ears or boots or both!"

DID YOU KNOW?: A banjo originally had a square body. However, due to the need to play it whilst resting the body on their knee, the musicians began to add on extra "wings" to create a circular shape. Over time, those who manufactured the banjo decided to simply change the overall shape.
